Greensboro, NC construction loans

Greensboro · High Point · Jamestown · Summerfield · Oak Ridge · Pleasant Garden · McLeansville

Many Triad buyers build on land just outside the city, with a home from a local dealer or builder. We finance the land, the build, and your permanent mortgage in one loan, and we start with a conversation, not an application.

Building in the Greensboro area

Greensboro anchors the Piedmont Triad, with a mix of healthcare, university, and manufacturing jobs. Many of the buyers we talk with keep a job in the city and build on land in Guilford County or neighboring Rockingham, Randolph, and Alamance counties.

Their homes are often manufactured or modular homes on land they own, or modest site-built homes on a rural or suburban lot.

What to check first when you build here

Who issues your building permit

Inside Greensboro city limits, the City of Greensboro handles permits. Outside the city, Guilford County does, and towns like Summerfield and Oak Ridge have their own planning rules. Confirming your lot's jurisdiction is step one.

Septic and wells

In North Carolina, the county health department acts for the state on septic systems. It issues an Improvement Permit and a Construction Authorization, and the county can't issue your building permit without that Construction Authorization. You can also hire a private Authorized On-Site Wastewater Evaluator.

Budget for the land, not just the house

Wells, driveways, and grading are where builds most often go over budget. We build those costs into your loan from the start. The cost planner gives you an early estimate of the full project.
